Have a long weekend to get away for a great vacation then the Caribbean Islands is the place to be A weekend getaway in the Caribbean is always the answer. If you think that weekend getaways as vacations too short to have any real fun, think again. The Caribbean has some terrific activities and adventures that you can enjoy in a weekend and create memories that last a lifetime.

From Jamaica to Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago to St. Lucia and Dominica one need not just imagine soaking up the tropical sun for that glorious sun-kissed glow but can actually see, touch and taste the region, in all its nuances.

Come Soak up the Sun in Tobago  Beautiful Beaches

One of the unique characteristics of Tobago is her wonderfully diverse beaches. It’s almost as if you can select a beach depending upon your mood—from north to south, leeward to windward, there is something for everyone. Some of Tobago’s most noteworthy beaches stretch from the southern end of the island, nestle along the leeward coast and run up to the northern end. Some are secluded, special rewards for the discerning traveler, such as Pirate’s Bay at the northern edge of the island. Others are festive and famous and draw in the crowds. It’s hard to choose, since each has its own charm but here’s my choice of the ten best Tobago beaches.

Kingdom of the Corals

More than 50 dive sites ranging in level from easy to expert await the diving enthusiast’from fringing reefs and bank reefs to patch reefs, rock outcrops, rock pillars and rock headlands. Because Tobago’s waters are so rich with nutrients, millions of marine creatures live off the plankton and polyps, while others, like sharks and turtles, pass through at certain times of the year. Shoals of blue wrasses, damselfish, blue chromis and gaudy parrotfish are the most prevalent on all the reefs, along with spotfin butterflyfish, trumpet fish and angelfish. The corals are almost as varied and interesting, and include the feared fire coral, as well as the fan, tube, brain, great star and elkhorn corals. Many corals are colorful themselves, ranging from red through orange to white. Poised purposefully between the corals are sea whips, fans, molluscs, sea urchins, anemones, sponges and sea weeds.

The rich waters are also the reason for the massive size of some of the hard corals, like the giant brain coral off Speyside, which is more than 18 feet (six meters) wide. Huge barrel sponges also sprout in the Columbus Passage south of Tobago.

The Popular Store Bay

One of Tobago most popular beaches, Store Bay which is located 5 minutes walk away from the Crown Point International Airport and Coco Reef Hotels. This beach also hosts many local events and is one that is most popular with the locals. is very accessible by foot and has a line up of local cooks, who names are very synonyms with good Tobago Food. Everyone pays a visit to Store Bag from Residence to visitors to soak up the island Vibe.

Piegon Point is next on the List, This is probably Tobago’s most famous beach and jetty. Often placed on the face of Caribbean postcards or the centre pages on any number of travel magazines, this beach offers over a quarter of a mile of powdery soft sand, a forest of swaying palms, the Buccoo Reef marine park, plus a brilliant vista of sparkling turquoise water, the Nylon Pool, a wide variety of water-sports, beach volleyball, thatched-roof cabanas for shade, live local entertainment, food and beverage stalls offering burgers, pizzas and local cuisine. Don’t miss the glass-bottom boat tours and get in some snorkelling and shopping. There is also a beachfront hotel for the budget conscious. Pigeon Point is the quintessential Caribbean beach experience.

Mt Irvine Bay Tobago

ideal location for the surfers and those who wish they knew how! Mt Irvine is the quiet tiger of the surfing community in Tobago  the experts say this perfect right-hand-point-break can be a whirl of fun. Mt. Irvine Tobago is also famous for snorkeling, as well as a beach bar, little pavilion-like cabanas, a snack shop, a local craft store and the best place on the island to buy the day’s fresh catch! You can also find luxury accommodation just across the street at the Mt Irvine Bay Hotel and Golf Course.

Grafton Beach

Grafton Beach is named after on of the Hotels located in Tobago but its real name is Stone Haven Bay just west of Black Rock . At Low tide u can scramble over the stones that gives the bay its unique name or swim and relax in the more gentle side of the Black Rock end. This beach has some of the best Snorkeling in Tobago.

English Man Bay

Located about one our drive away from Crown Point International Airport.Englishman Bay is a lovely natural Beach and the winner of a Best Beach environmental award. it is definitely the beach that any visitor would like to discover or any yathy would love to anchor off . The beach has a gentle slope and is tree lined at the high water mark with a steam at the far western end. Also located on the beach is a small Restaurant that servers local dishes to sooth visitors delights.

Cotton Bay

Our next beach is usually only accessible by boat. This spectacular little beach is definitely a haven for lovers and those seeking complete seclusion. Day trips to Cotton Bay on Tobago’s only tri-maran, Natural Mystic, leave from Mt Irvine several days out of the week and include a barbeque lunch, drinks and snorkelling, a relaxing sailing experience and, if you’re lucky, the company of an occasional school of dolphins. At the northern end of the bay, you’ll find a rocky inlet with a big rock pool, which is great for snorkelling, jumping, or just frolicking in the crystal clear water with the one you love!
